Mobile World Congress Barcelona is the premier annual exhibition of new smartphones and mobile tech. Held in Barcelona every February, it plays host to major new launches from Samsung, Sony, LG, Huawei and the other big players of the mobile industry, while setting the tone for what we can expect for the rest of the year.
More than 2,400 leading companies at MWC Barcelona 2919 showcased the latest technology, products and services across 120,000 net square metres of exhibition and hospitality space at Fira Gran Via.
More than 109,000 visitors from over 198 countries and territories attended MWC19 Barcelona. Over 55 percent of the 2019 MWC attendees held senior-level positions, including more than 7,900 CEOs.
Attendees explored the era of Intelligent Connectivity; the overarching theme of MWC’s 2019 events that describes the powerful combination of flexible, high-speed 5G networks, IoT, AI and big data. Intelligent Connectivity marks the beginning of a new era, defined by highly contextualised and personalised experiences, delivered as and when you want them, shaping the future of our industry and our world as new innovations intelligently connecting everything and everyone to a better future.
The world of smartphones is going to look very different in 2019. Rather than seeing incremental improvements and changes we are seeing some genuine originality and creativity. Sony has stretched the phone, Nokia has riddled it with cameras, Huawei and Samsung have folded it, Energizer has flattened it up and Nubia has bent it around the user’s wrist.
MWC Barcelona 2019 featured extensive learning opportunities from dozens of partner-led programmes, GSMA seminars, summits and more.
